Featured Shop: Floral Headpieces by K is for Kani

Connie Cao is a lifestyle blogger and owner-designer of K is for Kani, an exclusive label of handmade floral headpieces. What began as a small shop, has now become a recognized label within and beyond Australia, with clients including Topshop and L’Oreal. Her creations had been featured in popular magazines and websites like Peppermint, Grazia, Frankie, Mollie Makes, Yen, RUSSH, The Lane, Hello May, Hitched, and others.

Connie creates her colorful floral headpieces from her home studio in Melbourne, Victoria.  She models her own creations, and does it with such grace. Today, she answers a few questions for us and shares her personal favorites from her shop.

What’s the story behind the shop name?
Kani is the phonetic spelling of my name, Connie so that’s how the name K is for Kani came about!

What are your top 3 favorite picks from your shop?

Allira is a beautifully soft arrangement of roses, ranunculus and blossoms, framed with two green leaves.

Maia is a cheery sunshine-filled flower crown featuring beautiful blooming roses amongst clusters of wildflowers.

What do you love most about what you do?
Coming up with new designs and seeing them in their final form. One of the main reasons why I only make one of most of my pieces is because I have so many ideas!

Is there anything you dislike about it?
Not at all!

What has been your biggest challenge so far and how did you overcome it?
Managing my shop with my university degrees & blog. All three demand so much time but I’ve just finished up with university now so I have a lot more spare time on my hands to concentrate on my shop.

Where do you find inspiration?
Everywhere, I love looking at florists, gardens and just looking around nature observing colour combinations and flowers in general!

Your message to customers and friends.
Thanks so much for shopping at my store, I hope you love my floral headpieces as much as I enjoy making them.
