    Dimitra is the artist behind Décor Asylum, and from her creations, it is easy to tell that this talented woman has passion for her art. Her creations show an affinity with winter and the woodlands. We have seen snapshots of her creative space in October, and it’s only fitting that we get to know more about her work and her online shop. From her home in Argos (where she draws, paints and makes by hand everything you see in her shop), Dimitra opens up to us on Decor Asylum’s beginnings and challenges, her inspirations and joys.     Shop Feature: Fin and Feather Art

    Ellen Sherman is an artist, illustrator, and founder of Fin and Feather Art.  Ellen grew up in Michigan, and received her BFA in Studio Art at Michigan State University, before moving to Florida. Her love for the outdoors and the natural world can be seen through her art. Most of her paintings and drawings reflect the local fauna and flora – – a Koi fish, a bird’s nest, Chickadees on a tree, a starfish. . . Last month, we have seen the artist’s bayside art studio in Miami.     Workspace: Decor Asylum

    Upon discovering her work on Etsy, I was instantly drawn to Dimitra’s charismatic owls. It was also my first encounter with the term “pyrography”, which I found means “the art of decorating wood with burn marks” (wiki). Needless to say, I explored her shop and found out so many more things to love. Apart from her owls, I found that her bears were just as charming as her whales and foxes.
